No. OttaNote works in the browser on any device: you open app.ottanote.com and log in. For working offline there is a program for Windows in the Microsoft Store and one for the Mac, which you download here.
Yes. You export your notebooks as .enex and OttaNote reads them directly, with your nested checklists, ticked boxes, attachments and the original dates. You can also import text files, Markdown and HTML.
Always. You can take everything out again as Markdown, HTML or PDF: per note, per folder, or all at once as a full backup on your own device.
On our own servers in the European Union. Nobody else can see your notes unless you share them yourself, and all traffic is encrypted over https.
No. We don't track you, show no ads, use no third-party analytics and don't sell your data. We don't use the content of your notes for anything. Only when there is a concrete indication of abuse may we look at a sample (see the terms); we can never look inside the vault.
Yes. With Plus you can lock a single note with a PIN, or put it in the vault. The vault encrypts notes on your own device, so we technically cannot access them (end-to-end). You can also lock the whole app with a PIN or biometrics.
Yes, if you want to. With Plus you connect your own AI assistant through our MCP connection, and you choose the provider. OttaNote does not push AI into your notes itself.

On Free that is 25 MB per file, on Plus 100 MB. That is separate from your total space (50 MB on Free, 10 GB on Plus). OttaNote tells you about a file that is too large before the upload starts, so you don't wait for nothing.
